The computer I purchased has a password on it
As a matter of standard practice, Micro Center does not sell computers with a password already on them, however there may be an instance such as after service has been performed, or in the case of an open box clearance or display item, that you could unexpectedly be prompted for a password.
If the computer has just been picked up from service being done, check the service notes provided to you at checkout to see if any password is recorded in the notes.
One thing that you could try on a newly purchased computer is to simply enter the word password and if necessary try both all lower case or beginning with an upper case P. Another possibility is that there isn't a password actually there (blank password) and the computer is simply prompting you for one - try entering through a blank password prompt to see if that allows you to continue. If a blank password allows you to continue into Windows, instructions on how to change that password can be found in this article: http://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/8226/how_to_change_a_user_account_password_in_windows_10.
If the previous steps do not help, and the computer has Windows 10 or Windows 8, a factory reset can be performed to remove an unknown password - a tutorial on how to complete this process can be found at: http://www.microcenter.com/tech_center/article/9211/video_how_to_reset_windows_10_from_the_login_screen.
For a Mac OS computer, here is information on a possible reset process: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202860. If these options do not resolve the problem for you and it still is asking for a password, it would be necessary to bring the computer in to your local Micro Center Service Department for further assistance.
