The VGA connector is a fifteen pin (three rows of five pins) analog high-definition video connector used on many video cards, monitors, and even some HDTVs.

VGA connectors carry the analog component RGBHV (that is Red, Green, Blue, Horizontal and Vertical sync) video signals and VESA DDC data, which deals with communication protocols between a graphics adapter and the actual display.

These cables support 640x400 @ 70 Hz up to 2048x1536 @ 85Hz resolutions.

Higher quality VGA cables will use coaxial wiring and insulation and they will appear thicker than other VGA cables. While VGA has been surpassed in quality by HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort connections it is still widely used when digital connections are not available, or if having the highest quality video is not critical to the application.
