- Click Start and select Control Panel.
- Select the Category view. The Control Panel may already be in Category view.
- Click the Performance and Maintenance link.
- Select Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster.
- Select the C: drive.
- Click the Defragment button.
- Click Close when completed.
