How to clear Inactive and Background Applications on an Android Device

Description: This technical article shows how to stop inactive applications from running in the background on an Android device.

  1. Touch and hold the Home button until the active application screen comes up.

  2. Touch the Task Manager option.

  3. If the screen isn't already on RAM select the RAM tab at the top.

  4. Touch Clear memory in the center of the phone.

  5. A notification will appear stating how many applications have closed confirming all the inactive and background processes have now been stopped.
