1. Open the Settings application.
   
2. Scroll down and tap on iCloud.
   
3. Scroll down and tap on Backup.
   
4. If the iCloud Backup slider is gray (turned off), tap once to turn it green (turned on). If it is green, continue to the next step.
   
5. The device will backup automatically when it is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi. To manually start a backup, tap on Backup Now.
