How to uninstall another antivirus program before installing ESET in Windows 10

Description: This article will show you how to uninstall another antivirus from your system first before installing a new antivirus. For example, if you have purchased ESET antivirus and try to install ESET while another antivirus is on the system, it will not install, or it may install but produce completely undesirable results. In this article we are using McAfee as an example of the previous antivirus and ESET is the new antivirus.

  1. From the Windows Start button select the gear icon and go to Settings.

  2. Select Apps to open the Apps and Features menu.

  3. Scroll through the list of programs until you find the other antivirus program. Select it and choose Uninstall. The program’s uninstaller will launch. Follow the prompts to remove the program.

  4. After the uninstall finishes you will be prompted to restart your system. Restart your computer.

  5. You can now install ESET on your computer after the restart completes.
