Windows 10 has been installing updates for hours

If the computer seems to be stuck installing updates, the only alternative we can recommend is shutting down the computer by holding the power button down for 10-15 seconds, then turning the computer back on. This may restart the Windows Update process. While there is not a defined timeframe where this is or isn't OK, this approach should be used when the computer seems stuck for hours and not necessarily for several minutes - patience is important because interrupting Windows Updates that are properly updating can result in damage to the Windows file system. If the computer continues to stall on updates after this process, it may best to bring the computer to your local Micro Center store service department for hands-on assistance.
