Office 2019 Frequently Asked Questions

Description: This article contains some of the most frequently asked questions about Microsoft Office 2019 from Summer 2019.

Q: Is a Microsoft Account needed to install Office?
A: Yes. This is like a Google Account or an Apple ID. If you do not already have a Microsoft Account created, then you will need to create one before installing Office.

Q: How do I Install Office 2019?
A: Go to www.office.com/setup. Sign in using a Microsoft account and enter in the product key. Type in the product key exactly as it appears on the back of the activation card. If a message that the Product key is invalid appears, recheck the activation card again and make sure the activation key is fully revealed. Once activated the system will confirm that the product has been activated and you can continue to install Office.

Q: Do I need to upgrade from an older version of Office to Office 2019?
A: No, however Microsoft may stop supporting the product or may have already stopped supporting it. This means any issues found in that program may not be fixed. Also, any new features that are added to the 2019 software would not be available in older versions.

Q: What Is the difference between Office Home and Student 2019 and Office Home and Business 2019?
A: Office Home and Student 2019 Suite comes with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Office Home and Business includes the previous three applications but will also include Outlook for email.

Q: Can I use the Office 2019 without Internet access?
A: Internet Access is needed initially to install the Office 2019 product. However, once the program is installed onto the computer, internet is not required. If internet is not accessible, the offline Office installer is located on Microsoft’s website. More information on this is found this Microsoft Support Article

Q: Can I Install Office on a New computer if I previously installed it on a different system?
A: Yes. After uninstalling office from the original computer, sign into your Microsoft account. Once signed in, go to the subscription and services tab. Look for the Office 2019 product and click install.
