How to reset Power Settings to Default in Windows 10

Description: This article will show you how to reset Power Settings to Default in Windows 10. There can be more than one way to accomplish this task, however this approach uses the Windows Command Prompt.

  1. Select the Windows Start button from the taskbar.

  2. Type CMD into the Windows Search box. Select Command Prompt from the search results that come up - this will open up a command prompt window.

  3. Type powercfg -restoredefaultschemes in the command prompt window, and then press Enter on your keyboard.

  4. Once the above command processes, the cursor will move to a new blank line. You have now reset the power settings on your computer back to default. You can close the command prompt window and continue using your computer.
