How to use Disk Cleanup in Windows XP

When a computer is running slow, it may be a good idea to attempt to free up some disk space. This guide will show how to free up disk space in Windows XP using the Disk Cleanup Utility.

  1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
  2. Select Category view. The Control Panel may already be in Category view.
  3. Click the Performance and Maintenance category.
  4. Select Free up space on your hard disk.
  5. Select the items to be deleted and click OK.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. Close the Control Panel.
