How to enable or disable Windows Features in Windows Vista

Windows Vista comes with several built-in features and programs such as Internet Explorer and Windows Mail. This guide will walk-through how to enable or disable Windows features in Windows Vista.

  1. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Select Control Panel on the right half of the Start menu.
  3. The Control Panel should open to a series of categories. If it does not, click the Control Panel Home link on the left.
  4. Click the green Programs link in the Control Panel window.
  5. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link under the Programs and Features heading.
  6. Select the desired Windows features to be enabled or disabled, then click the OK button.
  7. Windows will proceed to enable or disable the features. This may take several minutes.
  8. Once the process is complete, close the Control Panel and reboot the computer for full access to all of the Windows features just enabled.
