How to turn Features On or Off in Windows XP

Windows has several built-in features such as Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. This guide will walk-through how to turn Windows features on or off in Windows XP.

  1. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen and select Control Panel from the right half of the menu.
  2. The Control Panel should open in Category view. If control panel does not open in Category view, click the Switch to Category View link.
  3. Select the Add or Remove Programs category.
  4. Click the Add/Remove Windows Components button on the left side of the window.
  5. When the Windows Components Wizard opens, select which components you wish to add or remove then click the Next button.
  6. The wizard will then configure the selected Windows Components.
  7. Click the Finish button when the Wizard completes.
  8. Close the Add or Remove Programs and Control Panel windows to finish changing Windows components.
