How to enable or disable the Windows Firewall in Windows 7

This is a how-to article on enabling or disabling the Windows 7 Firewall. This could be helpful if installing a standalone Firewall or to temporarily allow full network access to all programs.

  1. Click on the Start button in the bottom left, then choose Control Panel.

  2. Click on System and Security in the top left.

  3. Click on Windows Firewall.

  4. On the left, click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

  5. Choose the appropriate settings and click OK to finalize.
