Microsoft Outlook cannot start or cannot open the Outlook Window

Description: You click on the Outlook icon and wait, the program never opens and you receive an error Cannot start Microsoft Outlook, Cannot open the Outlook Window. Your Outlook program will not open the window. The error message says "Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook, Cannot open the Outlook Window." The program appears to be starting up, but then crashes. The way to correct this issue is listed below.

  1. Click on the Start button and then Click on Run (for Windows XP only), or Click on Start and type run in the search bar at the bottom of the start window.
  2. Then click on Run at the top.
  3. The run box will appear, type in the following command: outlook.exe /resetnavpane.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click on the Outlook Icon, the program should now open without any problems.
