How to identify the Version of Mac OS X on your Mac OS Computer

Description: This article describes the processes of identifying the version of Mac OS X currently installed on your Mac OS computer.

  1. Click the Apple Icon at the top left of the Finder Bar on Your Computer.
  2. Click About This Mac.
  3. The Currently Installed Version of Mac OS X will be displayed beneath the Mac OS X Text in the "About This Mac" Window that appears.
  4. Refer to the following Table to match the Version Number to the Release Name:
