Description: Keeping an Android device secure is as simple as setting up a password to unlock it.

1. Verify the home screen is active by touching the Home button along the bottom of the screen, then touch the Menu button.
2. A pop-up display will appear. Touch settings in this menu.
3. From here, look for Security, and touch it. (Note: In this example, the device is an HTC phone running their Sense overlay, so it may look different, but the overall process is the same)
   
4. Touch Set Up Screen Lock.
   
5. From here, the options for a screen lock are Pattern (to draw a pattern to unlock), PIN (to enter a four digit number to unlock), or Password (to type in a password to unlock). Choose the desired security type by tapping it.
   
6. Create the unlock code for the device. Once completed, tap Continue.
   
7. It will then prompt to re-enter the code to verify. Once re-entered, tap Confirm.
   
8. Once finished, tap Lock Phone After. This sets the time after the screen shuts off that it prompts for a pass code. For maximum results, tap Immediately.
   
9. Now, every time the screen is turned off, it will require a password to turn it back on.
