How to sort Data in Microsoft Excel 2010

Description: This article describes how to sort data in Microsoft Excel 2010.

  1. To sort data in an Excel 2010 spreadsheet, first click on the Data tab.
  2. Click on the cell title of the column that is to be sorted.
  3. Click the A-Z Sort button to sort alphabetically (for characters) or smallest to largest (for numbers). In this case names have been sorted alphabetically.
  4. Click the Z-A Sort button to sort in reverse alphabetical order or from largest to smallest. In this case names have been sorted in reverse alphabetical order.
  5. By selecting the age column, ages can be sorted from smallest to largest.
  6. And again, ages can be sorted from largest to smallest using the Z-A Sort button.
