How to insert a symbol in Microsoft Word 2010

Description: This article describes how to insert a symbol in Word 2010. Sometimes when typing documents in Microsoft Word, one may desire to insert a special character that is not accessible from the keyboard. This article describes how to do that.

  1. Click on the Insert tab.
  2. Click the Symbol button.
  3. If the symbol is in the drop down panel, click on it and it will be inserted. If not click More Symbols.
  4. Locate the desired symbol and click on it. Click the Insert button.
  5. Click the Close button.
  6. The special character has now been inserted.
