1. Using Modern User Interface Apps in Windows 8, once you are finished with an application, you may want to close it. You put your cursor to the upper edge of the open application as shown below. You will see a hand icon grasping the edge of the application.
   
2. When you see the hand icon you want to pull down towards the bottom of the screen and let go of the mouse to discard and close the application.
