Description: This article describes how to configure text to speech on your Google Nexus 7 tablet. Text to speech allows you to have text read out loud.

1. Touch the App Viewer icon while at one of the home screens on your desktop.
   
2. If Settings is not available on this page, swipe from right-to-left to reveal more apps. Tap on the Settings icon.
   
3. Tap the Accessibility icon.
   
4. Tap Text-to-speech output.
   
5. The Google Nexus 7 tablet's text to speech feature reads aloud text on your screen. This page allows you to configure Google's Text-to-speech engine, change the speech rate and listen to an example of text spoken aloud.
   
6. From the Text-to-speech output main page, tap the Settings icon to configure Google's Text-to-speech Engine.
   
7. The Settings page allows you to change the Language, parameters for the text-to-speech engine and install voice data.
8. From the Text-to-speech output main page, tap the Speech rate icon to change how fast or slow text is read aloud. Within the window that shows up, tap the speech you'd like: Very slow, slow, Normal, Fast and Very fast.
