Why should I get Microsoft Office 2013

Description: So Microsoft has done it again. They have released yet another updated Office package that we need to add to our computers in order to be up-to-date in this tech world. Why should you get this office package and not just stick with your old Office 2010? Here are some differences between the two that can help you make up your mind.

  1. Microsoft has really made the interface a lot more user friendly and also touch capable. People agree that it's a little easier on the eyes than Office 2010 is, and less cluttered within the ribbon bar. With the decrease in visual finesse, Office 2013 can focus on word processing, causing it to be a little more efficient.
  2. The new Word program, by default, saves all of your files to OneDrive. OneDrive is a folder that synchronizes with your Microsoft Account in the cloud. You can store things in and open them from other computers using OneDrive. You of course can change this setting, but it is nice to know that OneDrive can be opened from other computers and that you will never be without your document.
  3. The new Excel is smart enough to watch your data entry style and adapt to your style so as to auto-complete your data. While looking for ways to simplify data entry, it also suggests certain charts or graphs for people based on what kind of data they have entered. This is a really great function for someone looking to make data entry smooth and easy to do.
  4. PowerPoint has also seen some improvements in that you can take any picture or video from most social media sites and directly put them into PowerPoint. This means no more screen capturing or saving the file before putting it in PowerPoint. Just click and drag the photo or video into your slide and you are good to go.
  5. The long awaited Outlook change is that you can now add MANY different types of emails instead of a certain few. This function now means that more people can take advantage of Outlook with fewer limitations of compatible email providers.

So altogether there have been many additions and improvements to Office 2013. One of the biggest is the integration of OneDrive because it serves as a cloud client that you can access all of your files from other computers with just a login. The Office suite runs smoothly on most computers due to the fact that it has been simplified to run on tablets. You should have no issues flying through Word documents, emails or lecture slides with this new Office package!
