How to use a Flash Drive on Both a Mac and a Windows Computer

Description: This is a guide explaining how to make a flash drive readable and writable on both Mac and Windows computers.

In order to make a flash drive readable on a Mac, it needs to be formatted FAT 32. This must be done on the Mac. If it is done on the Windows machine, it won't be recognized on the Mac.

  1. Click on Finder.

  3. Click on Utilities.

  4. Click on Disk Utility.

  5. Click on your flash drive.

  6. Click on Erase.

  7. Make sure it is set for MS-DOS (FAT) and click on Erase.

  8. Finally, click on Erase and you are done. The flash drive will now be able to read / write using both a Windows computer and an Apple computer.
