How to perform a Hard Reset on a Samsung Galaxy Tab

Description: This technical article will show you the steps of performing a hard reset on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

  1. Make sure the tablet is powered off - if not, hold the power button down until it turns off.
  2. Once it is off press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together until the device displays the start-up logo.
  3. Once the startup logo is displayed release both buttons and wait until the device enters the Android System Recovery mode.
  4. Once in recovery mode you will see several options. Use the Volume Down button to choose wipe data/factory reset option (Volume Up and Volume Down buttons are used to highlight the displayed options).
  5. Once the wipe data / factory reset option is highlighted use the Power Button to select the option (Pressing the Power Button selects the option you want)
  6. On the next screen, press the Volume Down button several times until the Yes-delete all user data option is highlighted.
  7. Finally, press the Power Button to start the hard reset on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
