How to set Internet Explorer to reopen the Last Browsing Session

Description: This article will show how to set Internet Explorer to reopen the last browsing session the next time you return to the browser.

  1. From the desktop in the search or run bar, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.

  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and open the Internet Explorer folder.

  3. Scroll down the right pane and open Turn off Reopen Last Browser Session.

    • If Enabled the user will not be able to reopen the last Internet Explorer page that was being used at the time Internet Explorer shut down.
    • If Disabled, the user can reopen the last Internet Explorer page that was in use before it shut down.
  4. Select the desired option by clicking the radio button on this setting page and then click Apply and then OK.

  5. Close the Local gpedit Window.
