How to boot to another Hard Drive within Mac OS X El Capitan

Description: This article will show how to boot into other partitions and hard drives from within Mac OS X El Capitan.

  1. From the Menu Bar, click the Apple icon and select System Preferences.

  2. Click Startup Disk.

  3. Click the lock in the lower left hand corner to make changes.

  4. If asked for a username and password, enter an administrator username and password and then click Unlock.

  5. Choose the desired boot drive, and then select Restart.
