Open the Start Menu, and in the search bar look for Backup and Restore (Windows 7). Using this utility you can set up a scheduled backup of all of your personal folders and documents. You cannot back up programs in this same way - they will have to be reinstalled when necessary. Before beginning the backup, ensure that the target drive is large enough to hold all of your backup files.
