Dragon’s Dogma 2: The PC Specs Needed to Play Capcom’s Newest RPG
How to get the best PC performance to take on massive monsters.News
In an already jam-packed 2024, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is yet another massive game that threatens to take up all of your free time. Get ready to set aside Helldivers 2 and Palworld and spend the next month fighting all manner of mythical beasts.
The first Dragon’s Dogma from 2012 quickly gained a cult following for its robust grappling system, in-depth character creator, and ability to throw just about everything – including your own allies. Dragon’s Dogma 2, on sale starting March 21, is shaping up to be another hit, with early reviews agreeing that this deep, off-beat open world game is a great time.
If you’re looking to spend this weekend climbing monsters and throwing little guys all over Vermund, you probably have one question on your mind: Can my PC handle it?
Minimum System Requirements
While not the most intensive minimum requirements we’ve seen, they’re definitely a bit steeper than other recent games. If you can hit these requirements, you should be good to run Dragon’s Dogma 2 at 1080p and a stable 30FPS, though you may see dips during intense scenes.
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB VRAM
- RAM: 16GB RAM
- Storage: 100GB SSD (64.3GB required)
Recommended System Requirements
For a more cinematic experience, the recommended specs support 2160P with a consistent 30FPS, though you can probably push a bit higher if you fiddle with the settings a little bit. However, these specs are definitely pushing into high-mid-range PC territory. If you’re looking for higher frame rates, you can always turn down the resolution or lower some graphics settings.
- CPU: Intel Core i9-12900KS or AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or AMD Radeon RX 6700
- RAM: 32GB RAM
- Storage: 100GB SSD (64.3GB required)
What Early Reviews are Saying
With reviews only just now trickling out, it’s hard to say what exactly is in store for Dragon’s Dogma 2, but one thing is clear: it’s a meaty game that early players seem to be loving.
Reviewers frequently mention a wide range of side quests with labyrinthian routes, similar to the obtuse world of Elden Ring. Expect to hunker down and puzzle out solutions to problems and monster fights. And, maybe, have a guide open to help you through – progressing too far in the story can automatically fail some side quests!
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available through Steam and will be available to play at 8PM ET on March 21.
